Music Viruses?

I was told today, that any computer virus that's Transfered onto your computer in a song slips through viruse scanners and blockers? Is it true?

Is there a good virus program that can scan Downloaded songs?... I'm currently using "Etrust Easy Antivirus" is this a good virus scanning program? I got it off timewarner cable (they're the wireless service we use).

Any comments and answers are MUCH welcomed! =]

To answer your first question, if you download files from a peer-to-peer site or service (such as messenger and email)and open it without pre-scanning it, then yes you can get malware.

The best practice if you use P2P sites is to never open files while downloading and always scan them before opening. Always look at the file extension as well (a real song won't have a .exe file extension) and take the necessary precautions.

However, despite all precautions, even the most careful people can still pick up malware. No security product is 100% foolproof.
