Norton will take a big hit on your system resources. Pull up the Task Manager and see what processes are running and how much cpu and memory they are using. Try disabeling Norton and see if it runs faster.
If it was running faster before you installed Norton products this is more than likely your problem. I don't use Symantec products because they use more system resources than Windows Vista. Which by the way, you do not mention what OS you have.

If it was slow to start with and still not gotten any better then your problem is not Norton alone. You might need to do some maintenance. BEFORE you installed Norton, did you have any other antivirus software? If so, did you PROPERLY uninstall it BEFORE you installed the symantec products? The same goes for any other software that came with your symantec product. If you got a firewall, anti-spam, anti-phishing, old file eraser software, the old ones should be removed so there is no conflict with the new software. Any time you have two programs verifying for virus/ phishing/ spam/ pop-ups Etc. you are having your system slowed down a lot since they both try to check the files at the same time.
