I have a windows virus need help !!?

My computer runs fine except a pop up window in the right hand corner with a red X keeps popping up evey 15 sec. or so it says WINDOWS INFECTED- WINDOWS HAS DETECTED A VIRUS PLEASE CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD PROPER SPYWARE but soon as you move the mouse it disappears and pops up again in a few seconds the only problem I have is you can't change the background or any settings everything else seems fine I guess, I have Norton Antivirus and I scanned the computer three times and nothing comes up, what I fine funny if I shut down the computer right before it shuts down my old background pops up the icons are fine for 5 sec. or so I don't want to take it to a shop if I can fix my self so any ideas what this is and how to fix please help

sounds like you have spyware, not a virus...

you need a spyware remover

download adaware se personal, you can get the a free version at download.com

First norton could not find a virus if it's life depended on it.

Go snag avg it is free and on its worst day will pick up tons more than norton could ever dream of. Boot your pc in safe mode by hitting F8 and then select to boot into safe mode without networking and scan your pc with avg in safe mode should clean ya up. You may also want to go snag Spybot S%26D and scan with that also.
It's a spyware. I had it too but the Adaware Program removed it.
Download a good antivirus and run a virus scan on u r pc and this problem may go.

i'd try and down load "spyware search and destroy" to delete what's on your comp. sounds more like malware and spyware than anything else.
