What firewall system should I get?

My McAfee security center on one of my computers has an unupdated antivirus and antispam system. virus scan is expired and some other things aren't installed. When I try updating it prompts for a username and pass. The computer's administrator will be out of town for 2-4 months so I don't know what to do. I tried installing a program called NOD32 but I unticked 'scan all things downloaded' because there was a warning saying its unsafe to run two antivirus systems because they might cancel eachother out (because I'm not sure if McAfee is still running or not).

Was this a good move? I'm not sure what NOD does. I've just downloaded it and left it like that. I'm not sure if it helps or not.

And is there a way to update McAfee?

Last, my computer is very slow lately. I don't know what to do.

There are procedures for this which you can do but this could have all been avoided if the computer administrator left another user as an administrator. Call 'em up and tell him what happened and what you did. If he's the administrator, he's the one responsible for your computer.
can you call mcafee and ask them about what you did seeing that you put nod on call them for support it is a new product and they should support it also
You can use Winodws inbuilt firewall. Unistall McAfee and use some other software. Norton, AVG , Avast are free antivirus software. Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html
