i scanned with the antivirus and the spyware programs,there was no issue in it, what could be the reason. connecting process is keep on going and the blank screen appears. Please give me a suggestion.

What you are really looking for is www.download.com ... www.downloads.com only redirects to download.com .. If you are trying to access this site from work or someplace other than home, the site may be blocked. Are there any other sites you cannot reach? If so, you can always use an unblocker site such as http://www.unblockall.net/

Clear the cookies, temp files, cache.
in download.com, when you download something ,a new small window sometimes come in screen.If you have installed any pop-up stopper and have a activated it , that pop up blocker will block that window . 'cause that window is necessary for downloading from download.com . until that window comes ,you can not download something.
If something like this is with you ,plz disable it and start downloading
Use a proxy site or maybe someone disable you from re adjusting the host file in system32
turn off the phishing filters from tools, as it might be taking too long evaluating the site
