i was downloading the 90 day free trail norton antivirus and when it started scanning it said that i had a hard risk virus and it had to restart and when it restarted it wouldnt let me log on. Is it possilbe to reinstall with the backup disk or what can i do without having to take it in.

If you have the original cd's that came with the computer, then yes you cna reinstall the machine. However this will wipe all exisiting files and any programs you have loaded that did not come with the computer at purchase. So be prepared to spend time reconstructing all these and reloading the necessary additional software. You may be able to access the drive from safe mode and pull off some of the personal files to like a thumb drive or floppy or burnable cd. So Good luck
