My PC runs slow...how can I improve the speed?

My PC slows down alarmingly after 30-60 minutes. I run one application at a time but it doesn't seem to help.

When I start my PC and start playing a 1995 videogame (ie. low memory requirements!), after an hour, the PC drags, making games unbearable. How can I fix this? What is happening?

Sure I've not much RAM (512M) but I used to play this game with 32M RAM with better results!

I've scanned with Antivirus and Adware, and it should be clean... HELP!

If I need software to improve it, or Registry cleaners, please suggest a FREE one... cheers!
