Delete Norton. I absolutely hate that program, they used to be good now nobody uses it because it sucks so badly. Try using AVG (they have a free edition which is great). Its a far superior antivirus program.

No taskbar or Icons?

This issue is really my fault. I was trying to download a song and a pop up said that I need to download and install a program to download the song. So I downloaded the program and Command Prompt appeared and said something like this "A Virtual Device failed to install". I click Close. When I restarted my PC, there was no taskbar or Icons, for a while the taskbar appeared, but it vanished, now it keeps appearing and vanishing, and, I can't right click the desktop. I scanned with my Antivirus, it detected 8 virus, I removed them. Then I scanned with my Anti-spyware, it detected like 5 spywares, I also delete them, then I scanned with Spybot, it decteted 4,I also fix that problem. But I can't see my icons or taskbar. Please Help! My version of Windows is Windows XP Home Edition SP2. Help! Best Answer, 5 star rating, and eternal gratitude who can help me with this issue.

Yikes. Just want to get out of the way that you should never, ever download things if you don't know what they are.

As for your issue, the best thing for you to do is use System Restore. When your computer is first booting up hit F8 before the Windows loading screen pops up (feel free to mash it a bit until the prompt appears) and you will be given a set of options. Choose Boot in Safe Mode. Once in Safe Mode you will be given the option to either work in safe mode or use system recovery - choose the latter and tell it to restore from a date before you downloaded the file.

You will not lose any information and your computer should be working swimmingly.

yep what lunach said........if you have a start button you can also just hit Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. Just make sure you have everything else shut down (like email programs, browser etc.)

Is there any code or password that can break and remove a password protected program?

my pc is stuffed with viruses and antivirus programs but i want to remove all those unsed antivirus programs because i think that these unused ones are blocking viruses from being scanned by another antivirus program but the unsed ones cannot be removed because it is password protected and i have forgotten the password. so is there any special type of code that can help me break the password and remove these programs

You can normally use unlocker - http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

It specialises in deleting all sorts of protected stuff.

How do you get rid of Internet Explorer windows popping up ?

I use Mozilla Firefox as my main web browser , but every time i use it Internet EXplorer windows would pop up with annoying advertisements such as the mobile phone . The thing is i've researched and i've run several virus scans and spyware scans .

I have one antivirus - NOD32 and two anti-spyware programs - Super AntiSpyware and Avg Anti Spyware.

I ran Avg Antispyware and detected a file called trojan.hack.vg and hence i quarantined it with the program. Therefore im assuming must be gone.

Other than that both anti-spyware programs have detected tracking cookies, which i would delete anyway... not too sure as they would come up once again every time i ran an anti-spyware scan.

I'm not too sure what to do and I've also just recently reformatted my hard drive not too long ago.

Would anyone be able to figure out why internet explorer windows keep popping up?

How do you get rid of Internet Explorer windows popping up ?computer

Download Yahoo Toolbar for firefox, and use pop-up blocker. Firefox may have one built into it.

First of all delete any files in quaranteen. Secondly firefox has an addon called Adblock plus which should stop any further pop ups. Go to the menu bar in firefox, tools, add ons and search for the pop up add on.

Comodo always prompts "Firefox.exe is trying to access display screen" every time i load f

It only started doing this for about 3 days...

i scanned with spydoctor, antivirus doc, and a-squared and came out negative. Although awhile back i detected "darkmoon" trojan twice with spydoctor. it was only the registry though..

In comodo i check active process/connection and everything is fine...

In zone alarm firewall, i used it awhile back and was always bombarded with Port Scans from japan.. always blocked them though.

So, is this firefox prompt normal with comodo?

Comodo always prompts "Firefox.exe is trying to access display screen" every time i load firefox.?computers

so your using comodo firewall and it prompts firefox s trying to access the internet . this is normal its doing it job see you want firefox to connect so you allow it to access . comodo asks you this cause hackers sometimes install programs/virus ,trojans what ever and they use them to hack your pc and by asking you to allow or deny access it lets you know what whats access o you don't allow hackers

Computer is DYING!?

alright, my computer is dying. when i first bought it, i was amazed at how fast it ran, but now it is really slow. i've looked up evrything on the net and nothing works. here is a list of things i did

1. scanned with Norton Antivirus (but the comp froze so i didn't finish)

2. scanned with Windows Defender (but again i didn't finish)

3. ccleaner on registry

4. defragment and disc cleanup

5. uninstalling a whole crudload of games that i didn't play

6. turning off programs that start up that i don't want

7. turning down settings

here's it's history (kinda)

first bought: ran games quick and painless with high FPS and started up fast

now: takes forever to load up windows and when it finally does, it takes 3-4 mins for it to let me do anything because it's STILL loading. The games are now unplayable, with framerates of as low as 1 FPS!!! average 5 FPS probably though now...

I am 14, so i am NOT going to be buying any RAM like half the population of the world will tell me.

check the C: drive properties to see how much space is left on your hard drive. you can do this by going to "my computer" and right clicking the C: drive (local drive) which is usually the first icon in "my computer". after right clicking go to properties and see how much space is left.
